This lot is located in Philadelphia.
Condition
The wax-lined canvas in overall fine to good condition. As the work is unframed, we can notice the edges of the original canvas stripped onto the new one. With a nicely preserved impasto in some of the apples at center. Examination under UV light reveals an old layer of green varnish which glows inconsistently. Minor repairing at bottom right, to the right of the basket on the table: likely old flakes delicately inpainted. Some of the red pigments fluoresce under UV light, but as they match the impasto, we do not think they are signs of inpainting. Additional images available upon request.
